Even a turf system designed for recycling may encounter:
- Contamination
- Soil and organic material
- Mixed-material components
- Adhesives
- Difficult-to-separate backing
- Transportation costs
- Limited recycling capacity
- Lack of a local collection network
- Insufficient demand for recycled material
Therefore, it is better to ask:
What percentage of the installed system can realistically enter a defined recycling pathway, and what happens to the recovered material?
This is much more meaningful than simply asking whether the product is “recyclable.”
