A more advanced question is:
“Was the product designed from the beginning for its next life?”
This concept is known as design for recycling or design for circularity.
A more circular artificial turf system considers:
raw materials → manufacturing → installation → use → maintenance → removal → recycling → new material
This approach can potentially reduce the amount of material sent to landfill and reduce dependence on virgin raw materials.
For sports facilities with large turf areas, this can become an important consideration when calculating the project’s total environmental impact and whole-life cost.
